What is a colour consultant, and how can this service help me?
A colour consultant analyses your home’s light, undertones and architecture to guide you toward a palette that feels cohesive, intentional and timeless.
Why choose an independent colour consultant over a paint-brand consultant?
Paint-brand consultants are limited to one brand and usually offer only a one-hour, high-level assessment. Independent consultants go deeper — considering multiple paint brands, your home’s architecture, light, flow and personal style. You will also receive hand-painted paint samples by post so you can review your chosen colours in your own space.
What qualifications do you have to advise me on colour and home decoration?
Victoria is a qualified Residential Interior Designer trained at KLC School of Design, with study in colour and light theory. She has spent many years working closely with leading paint brands and has developed deep expertise in how colour behaves within the home.
What paint brands do you typically consult on?
We work with premium paint brands such as Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Mylands, Sanderson, and Paint & Paper Library. We also regularly explore new and emerging brands to ensue we can recommend the best options for your home.
Am I able to colour match to save on cost?
Colour matching is entirely your choice, but its not something we advise. Premium paint brands use specific pigments and recipes that are difficult to replicate, meaning the colour may behave differently in your space. For more guidance on colour matching, please read our blog post.
What is the colour consultancy process?
A discovery call → questionnaire & photos → colour analysis → consultation call → final colour report.

How soon will a discovery call be booked from sending over the contact form?
Discovery calls are typically available within 1–2 weeks of initial contact. We handle all calls through our provider Zoho Meet.
When will my colour consultation take place?
After your initial discovery call, you will receive the electronic questionnaire, instructions, terms of service and details of the payment required. Once paid, your consultation will typically take place within 7 – 10 working days, or within a convenient timeframe for you.
How do I receive and return the questionnaire and photos?
The questionnaire is delivered, completed and returned digitally along with your photos. Full instructions will be given at the time of booking.
How do I communicate with you during the process?
Email is best at studio@victoriaenglish.co.uk. If anything needs clarification on our end, we will get in touch directly.
Do I receive any paint samples of my chosen scheme?
Yes. After your consultation, you will receive hand-painted samples by post of the scheme you have chosen, so you can view the colours in your home before beginning your decoration project.
What if I don’t like my colour scheme after receiving my paint samples?
Your hand-painted samples are the final stage of the process, giving you time to view each colour in your own light before committing to your walls. If the palette doesn’t feel right once you’ve seen the samples in your home, we offer one complimentary revision within reason to adjust the scheme. Any additional revisions beyond this can be arranged for a small fee.
Do you offer in person consultations?
For larger projects e.g full house, we prefer to visit you at your home, however remote is possible. Home visits are unfortunately only possible within an 1 hour drive from Brighton and priced accordingly.
How much does a full home consultancy cost?
This is priced upon request and will depend on the number of rooms and scope of the project. However as a guide, a 4 bedroom home is from £600.
What time of day can you offer discovery & consultancy calls?
Ideally these will take place between business hours, however we can offer a limited number of evening and weekend appointments upon request.
Do you offer other interior design services?
At this moment we only offer colour consultancy as a structured package. However we are always delighted to help clients with a range of interior design needs. If you need something else, let’s chat about how we can help.
Do you offer refunds once the fee has been paid?
Refunds may be offered depending on how much work has been completed at the time of your request. You’ll receive a disbursement notice outlining any time or materials already invested. Please note, analysis usually begins shortly after payment to ensure a prompt turnaround; therefore, a full refund may not be possible. However, in the unlikely event you are dissatisfied with the service provided by Victoria English Interiors, a full refund will be considered.
